Celebrating 20 Years of YouthBuild AmeriCorps

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

YouthBuild USA is joining the national service movement in celebrating the 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps! YouthBuild AmeriCorps members have served their communities since the first class was sworn in in 1994. On September 12, 2014, YouthBuild AmeriCorps members will Take the AmeriCorps Pledge and attend local 20th Anniversary swearing-in and service activities across the country.

Since 1994, over 23,000 YouthBuild AmeriCorps members have served their communities by building over 5,000 units of affordable housing for homeless and low-income families in more than 150 urban and rural communities.

What distinguishes YouthBuild AmeriCorps is that all the members are young people who were born in low-income families living in impoverished communities. They yearned for a pathway out of poverty into responsible adulthood. YouthBuild AmeriCorps welcomes young people into a transformational life experience where they make a difference in their lives, the lives of their families, and their communities.

Join us by taking the AmeriCorps Pledge and learn more about the 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps at nationalservice.gov.
