Isaías' Story

Isaías became a leader through YouthBuild.

When Isaías Cabrera García was named Crew Chief by his peers— a leadership position on the community construction project he was working as a student at the Jóvenes Constructores de la Comunidad (JCC) program in Mexico City—he did not know that it would be a turning point and lead him to enroll in the School of Architecture at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

Through the JCC program, where he earned the equivalent of a high school diploma and received technical training in construction, he learned skills about being a leader in the community and on the job site, which he uses in his current role as Construction Supervisor. Isaías says,

JCC opens a space for young people to leave difficult situations and advance and transform their lives.
