YouthBuild programs around the country stepped-up to serve their communities on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School brought together partners such as Saint-Gobain and Starbucks as well as other community organizations to complete some much needed improvements at a local elementary school in Philadelphia. Projects for the day included painting 65 murals throughout the school and installing window film in the lunchroom to reduce glare for students.

YouthBuild Providence and YouthBuild North Shore teamed-up to serve at My Brother’s Table, one of the largest soup kitchens in Northeast Massachusetts. Volunteers had the chance to prepare food for families and individuals without access to homes, kitchens, and secure food sources.

Collectively, YouthBuild students in the United States complete close to 3 million hours of community service every year. Not only does their service create a lasting impact on the communities that they serve. It also gives them a chance to become leaders in their communities.
