Anthony's Story

Anthony is a leader. “Best part about leading? You learn – that’s the best thing in the world,” said Anthony. Thousands of young people learn leadership skills while enrolled in YouthBuild programs. Like Anthony, it’s often the innate leadership of young people who want to create a change for themselves that leads them to the doors of YouthBuild programs.

Before Anthony joined YouthBuild Boston, he was homeless and “unorganized.” Bouncing back and forth between friends and family, “wasn’t working for me,” Anthony said, “a lot of the mannerisms that you need when you are going into adult life I didn’t have. YouthBuild gave me that.” It takes a leader like Anthony to know when things are headed in the wrong direction and when to make a positive change.

Enrolling in YouthBuild Boston has provided Anthony the opportunity to learn bricklaying. Anthony is now on the road to his goal of joining the bricklayers union.  Watch Anthony as he shares how his leadership skills and YouthBuild has brought him out of homelessness and negativity.
