YouthBuild defines good leadership as taking responsibility to make sure things go right for your life, your family, your community, and your world. The YouthBuild Green Initiative supports YouthBuild programs and students as they take leadership to ensure that things go right for all life on Earth by working towards a healthier environment for ourselves, our community, and our planet.
Many YouthBuild programs are fostering green leadership through green curriculums, service activities, and job explorations as well as outdoor experiences, which inspire students to make a personal commitment to care for and protect the environment.
The next wave of young leaders developed within the YouthBuild network will have a profound impact on how America responds to global climate change, energy consumption, and other concerns. It is easy to deliver on the “what” and “how” of environmental responsibility, but a clear understanding of “why” is necessary to build the true commitment of present and future generations
