Please note, you must be a staff member at a current YouthBuild DOL program to attend the NCCER course.
The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is a not-for-profit education foundation created to develop industry-driven standardized craft training programs with portable credentials and help address the critical workforce shortage facing the construction industry. The Instructor Certification Training Program (ICTP) certification offered in Denver will enable you to teach the Contren® Learning Series to students at your YouthBuild program. You must attend the entire 21-hour NCCER course and pass the written and performance exam to receive NCCER certification. All attendees are encouraged by DOL to stay for the Green Hands-On Construction Day on Thursday and depart Denver after 6:00 pm.

Green Hands-On Construction Day
Thursday, April 22, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Location TBD (Bus Transportation will be provided)
Participants will break into groups, rotating through two units during this very long but satisfying day. Each unit requires hands-on participation. Dress for the work site (jeans and boots)! Safety procedures and protective clothing will be required. We will provide safety glasses for all participants.
Participants will “learn by doing” in this intensive, full day of training for “best practice” green construction. Get ready to blow insulation and swing a hammer, try a blower door test, and connect insulated concrete forms. Along with Construction Managers, Education and Case Managers are strongly encouraged to participate – lesson planning and support services will make much more sense for our young people if you know what they’re learning at the construction site. Participants will rotate through two training modules:
• Air Sealing and Insulation, including installation of moisture barriers
• “Tops and Bottoms” – foundations and roofing techniques, including weatherization opportunities
Participants: Please note any previous professional certifications you hold, and note any prerequisites you have completed toward a certification or degree (ex. BPI multi-family certificate; LEED Green Associate or coursework that satisfies the Green Associate prereqs; NCCER certification, etc.)
Please book return flights to depart Denver after 6:00 pm.
