2008 National Directors Council, Committee, and National Directors Association Meetings

Join your fellow YouthBuild program managers and directors in Washington DC this year for the Affiliated Network’s annual meetings! Last year the Directors Association voted to hold the 2008 meeting in Washington DC to enable us to go from our day-long meeting into advocacy visits on Capitol Hill the next day. We are also taking advantage of the location by holding a Young Leaders and Presidential Candidates Event on the evening of April 1st: a conversation between the Presidential candidates and young adult leaders from low-income communities across the United States..
The special focii of our National Directors Association Meeting on April 1st will be: working with our national allies against poverty; sustainability and advocacy for YouthBuild programs; and working with the Department of Labor to strengthen our work for low-income youth.
The Conference of Young Leaders (COYL) will begin before the NDC/NDA events, starting on Saturday March 30th. The NDC/NDA events are:
- Monday March 31: National Directors Council meeting (8:30 – noon)
- Monday March 31: Affiliated Network Committee meetings (1-3 and 3-5; check with your committee chair for your time)
- Monday March 31: Evening Reception for Directors: cash bar, appetizers, prizes, awards! (6:30 – 8 p.m.)
- Tuesday April 1st: National Directors Association Meeting (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
- Tuesday April 1st: Young Leaders and Presidential Candidates Event, (7-9:30 p.m.) at Lincoln Theatre, Washington DC. A Town Hall conversation between the Presidential candidates and young adult leaders from low-income communities across the United States. YouthBuild youth, other anti-poverty nonprofit agencies, and YouthBuild directors and staff will be in the audience.
- Wednesday April 2nd: Capitol Hill Day (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.) Capitol Hill Day for Directors will focus on meetings with Gubernatorial and Mayoral representatives in Washington, D.C.
