E. Rene Soule is director of YouthBuild USA's Katrina Rebuilding Initiatives and of the
YouthBuild Mississippi Rebuilding Corporation, responsible for the implementation of all
YouthBuild projects designed to help rebuild the Gulf Coast. Since 1997, Rene has held positions at the Corporation for National and Community Service; most recently, he managed the development of faith-based and community trainings and technical resources for the organization's national portfolio.
Gulfport leader Deborah Jefferson served as project director, responsible for the local coordination and implementation of the rebuilding initiative, including community partnerships, funder relationships, construction projects, and project participants. She has more than 20 years of expertise in housing, community, and economic development.
Tony Frazier served as construction manager, responsible for the oversight and implementation of all construction activity. Tony brought more than 16 years of construction experience to this position. For the past five years, he served as the construction manager for CSC (Community Services Consortium) YouthBuild in Lebanon, Oregon.
Working with Tony were construction site supervisors: Juan Aguilar, a 2002 graduate of Yuba County YouthBuild in Marysville, California; Ron Whitt, a 1998 graduate of YouthBuild St. Louis; Erika Symmonds from Brooklyn, New York; Aron Michalski from Morago, California, and Willie Spradley from Columbia, South Carolina.
Violeatha Lyte-Williams served as program manager, responsible for creating and implementing the residential and programmatic components. Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Violeatha has spent much of her career developing programs and facilitating workshops for young adults.
Working with Violeatha were two program coordinators who provided counseling, educational, and recreational services to the youth participants: Kevin Burke, who most recently served as director of YouthBuild USA's AmeriCorps education awards program, and Bea Sweet, a 2000 graduate of CCEO YouthBuild in Gardena, California.
Kari Matson, from Moorhead, Minnesota, served as administration coordinator, providing grant management and clerical support. Gulfport native Mollie Abshire also served for six months.
