As a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) National Training Sponsor, YouthBuild USA has certified 70 craft instructors at sites, thereby strengthening the professional credentials of staff while bringing new work-related opportunities to their students. If these instructors certify only 10 students each year, YouthBuild USA is providing NCCER certificates to nearly 20% of YouthBuild graduates.
YouthBuild programs can greatly benefit from the NCCER course. YouthBuild USA is the national sponsor that will maintain the structure of master trainers, certification workshops, and access to curricula. Once construction staff attend the NCCER course, they are elegible to in turn certify students at their program. YouthBuild USA certifies program sites (who are not eligible to become credentialing entities by themselves).
As part of its accreditation process, NCCER has developed the Instructor Certification Program (ICTP). Through this process, NCCER certifies the Master Trainer. In turn, the Master Trainer certifies the local Craft/Technician Instructor. This network of certified instructors assures that NCCER training programs will meet the standards of instruction set by the industry.
David Burch, construction trainer from ISUS YouthBuild, and one of the few NCCER Master Trainers in the country has been delivering excellent workshops presented by YouthBuild USA. Construction managers and construction trainers who attend and complete an NCCER training will be certified as Craft Technician/Instructors, giving you the ability to certify your students in the NCCERA Contren® Construction, Maintenance, and Pipeline Curricula.
With a nationally recognized construction certificate in their hands, YouthBuild students will have the upper edge in the construction industries.
