2007 YouthBuild NSI Spring National Gathering

Portland, Oregon
May 16 - 18, 2007
(Arrivals on May 15th)

Host NSI Site:  Portland YouthBuilders

The YouthBuild USA Education Department is excited to announce that the 2007 Spring NSI conference will take place in Portland, OR.  The Education Department's commitment to our NSI sites is to provide the network with learning opportunities through trainings, presentations, working groups, network site visits, and social gatherings.  Our hope is that much learning will take place throughout the conference and that NSI colleagues will also share and leave inspired to continue the important work that we all do in graduating our young people with diplomas, and preparing them for post secondary academic and/or career development training.

Past gatherings have included training content areas such as: college from preparation to access, transition and completion, Carnegie math curriculum, school culture & management, integrating technology, reading & writing across the curriculum, data driven decision making, instructional leadership, sharing best practices and challenges to improved network outcomes.

The YBUSA Education team is currently working diligently preparing what we believe will be a rewarding conference that is stimulating and informative.

We look forward to seeing you there!

It's also an increasingly important city, known for its music scene, brewpubs, coffeehouses, and postmodern design. The "City of Roses" offers abundant waterways, lush greenery, and numerous parks and gardens, including the magnificent International Rose Test Garden and the unmissable Japanese Garden. Tourists will also enjoy strolling Portland's historic Old Town and charming McCall Waterfront Park. Sites of particular interest include Pioneer Courthouse Square, a European-style plaza, and Saturday Market, the nation's largest outdoor handicrafts market. Sports fans of all ages will relish a trip to hometown-shop Niketown, followed by a Blazers game at Rose Garden Arena. With the city's award-winning mass-transit system, getting around is a breeze.
