Michael Parker grew up in East Harlem, New York.While living in the projects, he witnessed the plight of many poverty-stricken youths.He enrolled in the local YouthBuild, Youth Action Program and Homes. After meeting many youth that felt as passionate as he did about their neighborhoods, he started to blossom, and received his GED while overcoming many self-confidence barriers. He participated in youth rallies and elected official meetings,and continues to speak on behalf of his youth peers. In 2004, Parker participated in the Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign and the Democratic National Convention.
Parker currently attends Medgar Evers College, where he majors in liberal arts and behavioral science. He is also a full-time staff member at Youth Action Program and Homes in East Harlem as a team leader and program assistant.
