National Alumni Association

YouthBuild USA's National Alumni Association is composed of individual young people who completed the YouthBuild program and of local alumni clubs sponsored by local affiliates of YouthBuild USA. The Association and the local clubs are structured to provide a continuum of support in economic, professional, personal, and community development to impact public policy and social change for graduates of the YouthBuild network. The Alumni Association may also advocate for other youth-focused policy issues that it determines to be beneficial to youth across the country and abroad. The National Alumni Association is sponsored by YouthBuild USA to represent YouthBuild alumni across the country, and to function as an organized body of graduate leaders.

All graduates are encouraged to send us your contact information so we can send you regular updates of activities!

National Alumni Council (NAC)

The National Alumni Council (NAC) is the peer-elected governing body of the YouthBuild USA National Alumni Association and a key decision-making group for the YouthBuild field. Graduates who serve on the NAC engage in important leadership roles: policy input to YouthBuild USA, advocacy, support for the National Alumni Association, support for local programs, activism and action, and self-development. Members are elected at the annual conference of graduate leaders.

Young Leaders Council (YLC)

The Young Leaders Council (YLC) is the peer-elected student leadership body for the YouthBuild field. YLC members launch their three-year terms as current students voted into office at YouthBuild USA's National Conference of Young Leaders. YLC members represent their states at various national trainings and YouthBuild policy-making forums. Both the YLC and the NAC ensure that youth voice plays a central role in decision making and strategic planning for the YouthBuild field. YouthBuild students who serve on the YLC engage in leadership roles such as policy input to YouthBuild USA, advocacy, support for local programs, activism and action, and self-development.

Representatives of the YLC and the NAC serve on the Policy Council of the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network in equal numbers with directors. The Policy Council sets program design and performance standards for affiliation and accreditation.

1,000 Graduate Leaders Network

The 1,000 Graduate Leaders Network is designed to identify, mobilize, and support 1,000 YouthBuild graduates who are committed to significant local leadership, excellence in their own lives and advocacy on behalf of young people raised poor nationally. This network is designed to offer an explicit and accelerated leadership development pathway for graduates who are interested in stepping into more visible ongoing leadership roles in and beyond the YouthBuild field.

Graduate Speakers Bureau

The Speakers Bureau is a network of graduate leaders who are engaged in issue-based advocacy on behalf of the Affiliated Network and low-income youth. Bureau members develop content expertise and public-presentation skills in order to share their expertise at various forums both within and beyond the YouthBuild movement. Areas of focus include criminal justice, college completion for low-income youth, the benefits and value of the YouthBuild model, and home ownership for low-income youth.

AlumniXchange

The AlumniXchange is the annual national conference for the YouthBuild graduate leaders. Graduates receive and offer intensive training and skill development in key areas related to career development, education, personal development and leadership, service, advocacy, and asset-building. They have a wonderful time, and elect their National Alumni Council.
