During the spring, 48 Senators and 76 Members of the House of Representatives called for $100M to be allocated to the Youthbuild program for Fiscal Year 2008.
Senators John F. Kerry (D-MA) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) cosponsored the YouthBuild support letter in the Senate urging Chairman Tom Harkin and Arlen Specter to include $100M for the YouthBuild program for Fiscal Year 2008.
And, Representatives John Lewis (D-GA) and Mike Turner (R-OH) were joined by Representatives Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) in cosponsoring the YouthBuild Support letter in the House of Representatives urging Chairman David Obey and Ranking Member Jim Walsh of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education to include $100M for the YouthBuild program for Fiscal Year 2008.
In addition, Chairmen and Ranking Members Senators Tom Harkin and Arlen Specter and Representatives David Obey and Jim Walsh led efforts in their respective Chambers to ensure a notable increase in both the House and Senate recommendations for YouthBuild for Fiscal Year 2008.
