Inspirational training events are fundamental to communicating the philosophy and design of YouthBuild programs, as well as to building a sense of community, solidarity, and cohesion among the YouthBuild field.
YouthBuild's Academy for Transformation is based on more than 25 years of experience building a network of more than 225 programs around the country. The Academy provides tools, insights, training, coaching, certification, and skill development to staff and directors of youth serving programs to assist them in helping youth make signifigant positive changes in their lives.
YouthBuild's Transformation Instititues are consistently called "the best conference I've ever been to..." The Academy values our participants time, energy, and intelligence and takes seriously our charge to become the finest knowledge platform globally, for anyone who works with and creates opportunities for young people.
In 2005, YouthBuild USA attracted over 1800 local leaders and staff to more than 40 training events. In addition to the national trainings, eight regional multi-site gatherings attracted staff and students from some 120 programs. These events brought together YouthBuild teachers, counselors, staff, and program directors to share program innovations, practices, and strategies in working with young adults. Peer-led workshops were offered in areas such as green building, education and construction curricula, effective discipline policies, and leadership development strategies.
