Each YouthBuild program is operated by an autonomous non-profit organization or local public agency. They are not owned and operated by YouthBuild USA. They can obtain the right to use the YouthBuild name either by affiliating with YouthBuild USA or being funded directly by the US Department of Labor under the federal YouthBuild program.
The great majority of local programs join the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network which YouthBuild USA coordinates to create an organized way for directors, staff, alumni, and students of local YouthBuild programs to be a part of the leadership and governance of the YouthBuild movement. This is achieved through a variety of Councils and Associations for program staff and alumni including the entities listed below. All the members of Councils are elected by their peers to these representative positions. This democratic network is part of the dynamic public/private partnership that fuels so much of YouthBuild’s success.
The YouthBuild USA Board of Directors has overall responsibility for the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network, as well as for the operations of YouthBuild USA itself. The Board consists of individuals with relevant expertise and deep commitment to our mission, including several graduates of YouthBuild programs. Biographies of board members can be found below.
