External Communications Liaison and Special Project Assistant to the President

The central purpose of this full-time position is to provide skilled support for the President on a variety of strategically important special projects related to communications, fundraising, special events, advocacy, internal administration, and serving the field. In addition, the executive assistant will work with the President’s administrative assistant to create an efficient support system in which internal and external communication flows smoothly and graciously, the President’s office works seamlessly with other offices in YouthBuild USA and with YouthBuild programs across the country, and information is organized for easy retrieval.

Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

This position provides administrative and receptionist support to YouthBuild USA. In addition to typing, filing, and scheduling, also performs duties such as coordination of meetings, obtaining supplies, coordinating direct mailings, and working on special projects. Also, answers non-routine correspondence and assembles materials. Deals with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload, recommends changes in office practices or procedures. Also oversees office management.

Program Advisor, YouthBuild USA Rural and Tribal Development

YouthBuild USA is seeking consultants to work with Native American and tribal youth and community development programs across the United States to help them achieve maximum impact and long-term sustainability. Interested individuals must have experience with Native American youth development, community development, working with tribal governments and entities, organizational development, program management and evaluation, and effective communication and facilitation skills. In addition, YouthBuild USA is seeking consultants with extensive experience addressing community economic development issues in tribal areas.

Availability for part-time contracted work and travel in the United States is required. Specific knowledge about criminal justice, curriculum design, strategic planning, career development and secondary alternative education is a plus.

National Mentoring Manager

The aim of the YouthBuild Mentoring Initiative is to promote the creation a workable long-term caring relationship between a YouthBuild student or graduate and an older person for as many students and graduates as possible. Most of the work necessarily takes place at the local YouthBuild program level. However, as the national support center for 226 local YouthBuild program across the country, YouthBuild USA plays an invaluable role by providing guidance, external partnerships, training, handbooks and materials, seed funding, data and research information, problem-solving, and national recognition. We are currently partnering with a national mentoring organization, Dare Mighty Things, to build a “natural match” mentoring model.

Help Desk and Data Management Coordinator

The Help Desk Support and Data Coordinator is a full-time position with two major components: 1) to provide help desk support, troubleshooting, and training to local YouthBuild programs to submit data through YouthBuild USA’s web-based student tracking application (WebSTA) and through the US Department of Labor’s YouthBuild Case Management Tool; 2) to assist and support the Associate Director for Data Management with tasks related to data collection and data management, such as updating contact information. While much of the training and technical assistance is provided by telephone and email, the job involves travel in the U.S. for site visits and participation in national trainings and regional gatherings.

Director of Career Development

This position will work with local program staff to ensure successful transitions of YouthBuild graduates into employment opportunities and long-term economic sustainability. The director of career development will focus on training program staff to build bridges from the YouthBuild program environment to the market environment. The role of this position is to improve YouthBuild practice along the full spectrum of demand-driven employment activity including career assessments of YouthBuild students, preparation for placement and success in careers, partnerships with the private sector, and long-term supports for graduates.

Accounting Supervisor

This position will supervise two staff in the performance of accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts and receivables functions, as well as monitoring and preparing invoices and reports for, a variety of public and private grants and/or contracts. S/he will personally prepare invoices and reports for some grants and/or contracts, as well as taking the lead in identifying best practices for international accounting. S/he and her staff are also responsible for some of the general ledger work in the department.
