Green Building Made Feasible
June 30, 2008 - July 3, 2008
Austin, TX
American YouthWorks, sponsor of Casa Verde Builders YouthBuild of Austin TX, invites you to attend a green building training to be held at their site from June 30th - July 3rd 2008.
The young people of Casa Verde Builders have built over 100 quality homes for low-income families, each receiving a 4-5 STAR rating from Austin Energy's Green Builder Program. They have been recognized locally and nationally by PEPNet, HUD, Home Builders Magazine, and the Texas chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Most recently, the program was honored with a 2005 EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) by NAHB.
This course, geared for construction staff and directors, explores the basics of green building implementation and its costs and benefits. Lead instructors from American YouthWorks' Casa Verde Builders provide participants with an in-depth look at the full range of green building from material- and energy- efficiency, to sustainable landscaping and indoor air quality. Instructors from Casa Verde Builders use their knowledge gained from building over 100 green and affordable homes with their YouthBuild students to help participants identify features and techniques that are easy and cost-effective to implement, and give technical advice on how to get started integrating what is learned in this course into actual construction practices.
We have reserved rooms for this event at the Hilton Garden Inn Austin Downtown at the rate of $109 a night. You must call (877) 782-9444 to reserve your room no later than Friday, June 6th, 2008 to receive this negotiated rate.
